Some Like it Cooler in Sag Harbor

AmericaEnjoy the last of the summer in true East Coast style aboard the “America“, a 75-foot Trumpy motor yacht built in 1965 for a wealthy publisher and philanthropist (not Osgood Fielding III), now owned by the proprietor of the famous landmark American Hotel in Sag Harbor. Known as the Bugatti’s of American yachts, the “America” is available for “bare-boat” charter out of Eastern Long Island with all mod cons at your disposal. The yacht sleeps six in three beautifully appointed staterooms complete with 19th century marine paintings on the walls, limited editions by the bed, and elegant antique furnishings. Cruise past Mashomack and Shelter Island, Barcelona and Cedar Point or drop a line at Gardiner’s Island. Block and Fisher Island are only a few hours away as is the spectacular Connecticut shoreline.

And if you can’t find your sea legs, you can always retreat to land and put your feet up in one of the eight guest rooms at the elegantly restored American Hotel, a member of the Historic Hotels of America. Famous for its Franco-American cuisine, extensive wine cellar, and formal Victorian décor, the restaurant is regarded as one of the finest and most romantic places to dine in the Hamptons. The beautiful wooden bar and cozy fireplace is a perfect spot to warm up as the fall evenings cool down. Close to the Hamptons and Shelter Island, there is plenty to see and do in the surrounding areas, in addition to the charming shops, galleries, and marina right on the doorstep…or gangplank.

For more information and current rates, email: info@trumpyamerica.com or tbc@theamericanhotel.com or call 631-725-3535. (Prices typically start at $3000 for a half-day charter, but discounts and availability do apply.)
